We have represented contractors and homeowners in litigation and negotiation relating to mechanics liens and other lien claims. The Illinois mechanics lien laws are very complicated and require precise compliance to establish valid liens. We are familiar with the requirements of the laws. On behalf of general contractors and subcontractors we obtain appropriate legal descriptions for the real property and file mechanics liens within the statutorily permitted time period. For homeowners, we determine if the lien claims truly enhanced the value of the property and challenge lien claims if they do not meet the statutory requirements or if the values claimed are not reasonable.
